How to Read This Documentation

Hello, and welcome to the Tecton documentation -- our goal is to make these docs work for you regardless of your Tecton expertise. They are designed to serve new/learning users as well as experienced developers and machine learning engineers creating features in Tecton.

What to Know Before You Start

Tecton is Python based, and just about all of the examples in the documentation are in Python.

How the Information is Presented

The Tecton documentation is organized so that a new user or someone interested in learning about Tecton as a whole can start at the top of the Left Nav with the Introduction and just read from top to bottom. The topics are arranged intentionally in the order in which a new user should experience the product.

Many of the pages serve dual duty: the beginning of the page introduces the what and why of a Tecton product feature or concept, with the finer detail coming "below the fold."

The Documentation Structure

The documentation is grouped into three sections:

  • Get Started
  • Feature Development
  • For Administrators

Getting started: You are here. Start with the Introduction and Concepts, and watch a helpful video or two. This will get you grounded and on your way to the next and most important section.

Feature Development: The main concentration of information. If you are developing features, this (and the SDK/reference) is where you will spend most of your time. The topics in this section are presented in the order of the basic Tecon workflow. From defining features to publishing and monitoring them.

For Administrators: Set aside for administrators and those setting up the Tecton-related infrastructure, these topics cover tasks that don't apply to developers who are just writing and testing features.
